If there is only one reason why I would visit Iran, it would be to bathe myself in these Iranian sweets called 'Gaz'.. Mom brought back a few from someone in her office and I absolutely adore them.. They're somewhat like a nougat, but not as hard as those cheap sweet ones from Australia or those with candied fruits..
In fact, I wikipedia-ed it and found out that these aren't ordinary nougats, they're only available from a city in Iran called Isfahan and they get the 'Gaz' from the juice and stems of a desert plant called 'Angebin'.. What the heck is that?! Whatever they are, I just find them delicious! It's mixed with delicious pistachios, rose water and egg whites.. The rose water makes it different from a normal nougat..
Anyway, yesterday was a rather productive day.. I met up with Nick Kang, my sister's friend from college whom I have not seen for over 6-7 years and it was surprising.. He looked so different now, more matured and it was nice having someone to talk to.. He's as funny as ever, a pleasure to be with..
We went to Delicious in Bangsar for 'tea', I didn't know guys did 'tea', that was just so.. I don't know.. FUNNY! Ha ha ha.. Remember in the last entry I told you I never wanted to go back to Delicious again? Well, I had no choice, everyone seems to be dragging me there.. I still don't understand the 'draw' of the restaurant, it reminds me of Ikea, but without the delicious meatballs..
I settled for a lemon meringue pie, which I sort of regretted since it tasted nothing like a lemon pie.. All I could taste was the sugar in the meringue, which made me drink 3 cups of water to wash down all that sugar.. And now I'm having a tummy ache, must've been that meringue.. Sigh! I think the cappuccino I ordered also helped, since it was bitter and tamed the sweetness..
Nick ordered the brownie with vanilla ice cream, which was just so-so.. I remember I had a brownie in USA that blew my breathe away, somewhere in San Jose, and I have never EVER loved brownies in Malaysia ever since.. None comes close to that brownie.. Except the chocolate molten/volcano cake from Mezza Notte KL.. Now that, is something I would die for any day..
So, third trip to Delicious, in which I didn't have to pay, thank you Nick.. We spent almost 4 hours talking about the lives we've had these years.. Ha ha ha! And on Monday we're heading to have duck rice in PJ State, with his girlfriend Tracy whom I'll be meeting for the first time.. She's a very pretty girl, I've seen her pictures, so let's hope they get married soon and have cute little kids.. Ha ha ha!
And no, I forgot to take pictures of our cakes.. Mom, Dad and I are fighting over which bags we're taking to USA.. I have yet to pack.. SIGH! Someone help me............
